Girls Inc. - Bay Area

Girls Inc. of Alameda County’s mission is to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. Since 1958, we have responded to the unique needs of girls aged 5-18. We empower girls in underserved communities, equipping them to navigate gender, economic, and racial barriers and grow into healthy, educated, and independent adults.

All programs are developmentally appropriate, supporting girls’ changing needs as they grow. From literacy activities in elementary school, to exciting hands-on science projects in middle school, to building leadership skills and college readiness in high school, Girls Inc. girls receive the support and the opportunities they need to thrive.

Ploughshares Nursery (Alameda Point Collaborative) - Bay Area

The Ploughshares Nursery Project is part of our Social Enterprise Department where adults participate in a paid on-site job training (OJT) program. Ploughshares Nursery provides a small business environment through which employment trainees learn and practice employment skills that are transferable to any work environment. Ploughshares Nursery uses marketing, and distribution tasks as tools to teach production planning, inventory development and management, product presentation and marketing, product delivery, and customer service. Ploughshares Nursery offers drought tolerant, native and edible plants to the public to generate revenue for Alameda Point Collaborative.

Farm2Market (Alameda Point Collaborative) - Bay Area

APC Farm2Market is a small, diversified working farm that produces thousands of pounds of sustainably grown produce each year. We are a social enterprise of Alameda Point Collaborative and use our passion for food and the environment to support APC residents as they move toward economic self-sufficiency and greater health and wellness. Proceeds from our CSA (community supported agriculture) program and other sales activities are pumped back into APC’s programs and activities for its resident community.

Oakland Education Fund - Bay Area

The Oakland Public Education Fund is a nonprofit that leads the development of community resources in Oakland public schools so that all students can learn, grow, and thrive. We have helped raise over $200M for Oakland kids, placed 10,000 volunteers in local classrooms, and fiscally sponsored more than 150 education-related projects.

Genesis - Bay Area

Genesis is a community of member organizations working together for access to opportunity, health and quality education for people throughout the Bay Area. Unifying our member congregations and institutions, we have successfully advanced significant public policy initiatives to secure jobs in communities of color and low-income families in funding for public transportation.

Genesis is the local Bay Area affiliate of the Gamaliel Network.  Gamaliel is the organizing network that hired and trained President Barack Obama in community organizing in the southside of Chicago, Illinois.

St. Mary's Center - Bay Area

St. Mary’s Center a nonprofit organization, provides essential services to improve the quality of life for at-risk seniors and preschoolers in Oakland.

Each year we stabilize the lives of more than 1,350 homeless seniors and frail seniors living alone, assist neighborhood families who need supplementary groceries, and provide a preschool for 48 children living in poverty. Nearly 3,000 people are impacted each year by the work of St. Mary’s Center.

Alma Migrante - Tijuana, Mexico

Alma Migrante is a Non-Profit Organization based in Tijuana. Alma Migrante works to provide access to justice for migrants on the U.S./Mexico border. Alma Migrante is inspired by and relies heavily on the work of human rights defenders on the border, whose knowledge on immigrants and other vulnerable groups is crucial in achieving international standards of protection of human rights.

Espacio Migrante is a non-profit organization whose objective is the protection of the human rights of migrants and awareness of the issue of migration. We consider that within the complex phenomenon of migration, the main thing is to recognize that the migrant is a person and that he / she is in a vulnerable state, for which reason their human rights, integrity and security must be safeguarded

Promotora de las Bellas Artes - Tijuana, Mexico

Promotora de las Bellas Artes (PBA) is a non-profit organization that since 1992 has carried out numerous regional programs to promote the access to artistic expressions and cultural rights on the border between Baja California, Mexico and California, USA, with special emphasis on children and youth. During this period of time, we have directly benefited more than 333,154 boys, girls and teenagers with free access to a different variety of artistic programs.

Tijuana Hub - Tijuana, Mexico

The Tijuana Hub mapping initiative began in 2019 with a $30,000 pilot funded by a USD Strategic grant Initiatives Grant to identify and map all the University of San Diego’s Tijuana efforts across its different schools (USD Schools of Business, Engineering, Nursing, etc as USD has engaged in bi-national work for several years across all academic and co-curricular departments. This pilot funding moved from mapping to a pilot of a physical space- a USD Tijuana Hub, serving as a multipurpose office and classroom for USD students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners and stakeholders collaborating in Tijuana-based work.
